About Doret
Born the middle of 5 children in Curaçao, I spent my childhood partly in the Netherlands and partly in Curacao and Aruba. After high school I went to the Netherlands study medicine and became tropical doctor. I have worked in the emergency room for many years. After working in the hospital for 12 years, I decided to attend bible school at Cornerstone Intercultural studies and Bible college, a 2-year internal course. I wanted to find out where God wanted to use me further. There was I am confronted with the work among prostitutes and the problem of human trafficking. After working in a shelter for a year in the Netherlands, I moved to Bucharest, Romania. During my time at Cornerstone, I had completed a 6 week internship at the only acute shelter for survivors of human trafficking in Romania.
The organization is called Usa Deschisa (Open Door Foundation). They asked me to come and work there full time. I started there in March 2015. I was particularly concerned with a large group of children that we had in our care at the time. I also provide medical advice and protocols. In addition, I became part of the board.

In December 2017, God enriched my life with 2 children. Brother and sister, Florin and Larisa. After being in custody for 3 years, we are now in the final phase of adoption. We enjoy each other and the work God has given us among the survivors of human trafficking. But we may also serve Him within the local church (Biserica Nazarineanului Binecuvantarea, Bucuresti) where we go.
