Mission and objective

The foundation aims in the public interest to stand next to people who are damaged in this life. This damage is the result of a psychological or physical  abuse  of the person by a third party or the damage has been incurred through any form of addiction.

Our intention is to help people who are in a difficult / painful situation because of this  to support life. Guiding them in the process from that painful life they lived to an existence in society where they are seen as valuable and appreciated just for who they are.

This from the knowledge that God made us in his image  and that his purpose with us is not to live in brokenness. But as John 10:10 says that Jesus came to give life and abundance. We want to distribute from that life and that abundance. We do this by offering friendship, housing, spiritual guidance, practical work and everything that appears to be necessary in this process.

Cooperation

In light of this objective, Doret has been deployed to and works with the local foundation “Usa Deschisa”, where she works among survivors of human trafficking in all forms that exist among men, women and children. And while we can't share much about the safety stories, we still want to share something so that you understand what we are confronted with.

Usa Deschisa works through a holistic approach. This means  that we provide whatever assistance is needed to help the survivors get their lives back on track. We offer legal, medical, psychological and social counseling. We have an emergency shelter for women with their children and provide outpatient services if safe shelter is not necessary. It's hard to describe what these women, men and children are going through, but hopefully the following stories can shed some light on this dark world they've been in and the hope we can offer you together.

Stories

  • A mother with 2 children joined our program 5 years ago. Mother grew up with her grandparents on the garbage dump of one of the larger cities in northern Romania. Because there were no other opportunities to earn money, no education and mother of 1 son,  she came into the hands of a human trafficker and was traded as a prostitute. There she also had a daughter. Saved by organized crime here, she ended up in our care along with others. Her son ended up with the father and the  daughter with grandparents at the garbage dump. In the shelter Maria has gone through great changes, she received therapy and she eventually went to work.

But her maternal heart finally decided to move back to her then boyfriend so she could have the kids back together in her care. We kept in touch, we went to the dump and we have  helped with installing heating in their 1-room house.

Until she suddenly panicked and called us in the middle of the night. She had fled her house in her pajamas, with 1 meter of snow and -10 degrees outside. She had left her children behind. Why? Because her boyfriend thought she could return to prostitution to earn money for her family. He had invited friends and clients and when she refused, he nearly knocked her to death.

On our advice she ended up at the police and they gave her clothes and put them on the train to us. With 3 rib fractures, contusion of  liver and kidneys, and a skull base fracture, she came to us. After medical treatment and once again included in our program, our care did not stop with her. Boyfriend is very aggressive, he has been in jail for murder so the kids weren't safe there either. After being proved right by the court, we were allowed to pick up the children. This was a dangerous action with little help from the police and child protection

But with a quick action we had the children in our car and we could also bring them a safe place  offer their mother. Mother now works full time, the children go to school. Money is being saved so that mother can have their own place when she is ready. We look to their future with hope.

  • A teenager with a disturbed home situation is recruited at school. Because of the attention she gets, she quickly ends up in a loverboy situation. When her grades drop, she comes to school less often and she asks the headmistress for help, she is called a slut. Unfortunately, she is not getting the help she would need.

Disillusioned she ends up in a depression and her "friend" can do whatever she wants with her. She eventually appears in an investigation by the organized crime police department. She then decides to accept the help offered and to get on the bus herself to our shelter. Here  she is helped for her depression and trauma, and she goes back to school where she is the top of the class.

In the meantime she has completed a PR course in addition to school and will continue to study there as soon as she has finished secondary school. She is also the first woman in our program to take driving lessons to be completely independent. And all that at 19 years old. We are proud of the fighting power this young woman has.

In the meantime, she has won her lawsuit and received a good compensation. The possibilities are open for a bright future.
